In this 1904 cyanotype, American Artists Arthur Wesley Dow captured this tight-knit coastal town just a couple of hours away from his hometown of Ipswitch, MA. Although this piece demonstrates his mastery of photo-realistic composition, Dow was passionate about educating young artists to see art less as mimicry of nature and more as a vital means of self-expression.
