Dutch artist Theo Colenbrander trained first as an architect before turning to decorative arts in his 40s. He soon became known as an eccentric thought leader in Dutch design, turning nature’s rhythms into pattern and color. 

In Dutch floral art print Tulpen (Tulips), the familiar flower becomes something new–stylized, flowing, and alive with movement. Drawn in pencil and watercolor as a pottery design, the image feels both organic and abstract, echoing the spirit of Art Nouveau while hinting at modernism’s bold simplicity.
